A level music workshop with composer
James Hill and James Lawson working on a composition by Owain for film orchestra
The Music department have been fortunate enough to host a workshop with composer and lecturer Dr. Owain Llwyd from Bangor University's School of Music.
The A level Music learners have been able to gain an insight into how to write music for the media to suit a brief and concert stage, developing their own musical ideas and gaining valuable practical advice for composition. Dr Llwyd has worked with many of the UK’s leading musicians and ensembles, composing and orchestrating music for film, media, concert stage and events such as the Cultural Olympics in 2012 and the Lord of the Rings: Battle of the Five Armies
Dr Llwyd said: “It has been a fantastic workshop, working with budding young composers who show great potential and want to progress into the music industry. I look forward to working with the learners again in the future.” Owain is currently working on a project for the National Eisteddfod on Anglesey this summer and the staff and learners involved are grateful for him to take time out of his schedule.
