Only Boys Aloud

Boys from Emrys had a unique experience on Friday - singing underground!  The event, at Bounce Below at the Llechwedd Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog, marked the official launch of Only Boys Aloud in North Wales.

The 30 minute workshop included vocal exercises and practising a song once sung by African slaves.  It was followed by an energetic session on the giant underground trampolines.

Only Boys Aloud was formed five years ago, offering opportunities to hundreds of boys across South Wales to perform on platforms large and small across the UK, as well as numerous TV appearances and recordings.  The organisation is now extending those opportunities to boys aged 13-19 from across North Wales.

Rehearsals proper get underway at Rhyl Pavillion Theatre next week, and culminate with performances at key events in the area.  The group's first appearance will be at Access All Eirias in Colwyn Bay on June 7th, when they appear on the same bill as The Vamps, Foxes and Joe Woolford.

The boys said, "they were excited by the prospect of singing in front of large audiences."
