Year 8 English 'Busta Rhyme' poetry competition
Mrs Brettle’s Year 8 English class have taken part in a new poetry competition called ‘Busta Rhyme’ which encouraged them to write a poem about something they felt passionately about.
Twenty one learners’ work has been selected for publication and have the chance of winning £1000 for themselves. The winner will be announced around Easter 2017. The subject matter ranged from current affairs, religion and identity to love, loss and everything in-between. Summer Steen’s entry is entitled ‘Life isn’t Perfect’ whilst Emily Jones gave her work the title ‘Millionaire’. Other learners focused on specific issues such as Warren Parry-Jones’ work called ‘Care Home Abuse’.
The English Department enter various writing competitions each half term. There is another chance to enter the next ‘Busta Rhyme’ with the opportunity to win the next £1000 for the best poet. Closing date is Friday 17th February 2017.
