Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan was established in 1967, and was formed by the amalgamation of Abergele Grammar School (1895) and Dinorben Secondary Modern School (1938).
The school is named after Robert Ambrose Jones (1848-1906), who was born at Bryn Aber, Abergele and also known as Emrys ap Iwan. He was a Minister as well as a prominent Welsh literary critic and writer on politics and religion.
The school crest bears the Welsh words ‘Mewn Undeb Mae Nerth’, meaning ‘In Unity There Is Strength’ - an ethos at the core of our school community.
